Guided tour of Tübingen with focus on the history of women

Final reflection of the Ulm project group together with Dr. Gerrit Kaschuba of tifs
Looking back on the first project year:
- What were the central positions?
- Have we reached the project’s aims?

To get an evaluation on the value of European learning partnerships from the sight of
participants, a concluding question was asked:

Imagine that a journalist enters this room and asks for an interview:
“You have participated in a European learning partnership. Did you stand to gain from it? Would you recommend participation?”

What would you answer?

Statements from participants:

- The participation is in every respect recommended, even though in the beginning, there are no concrete ideas on how these future, international meetings should look like. The understanding for others is growing and life experiences some, maybe not dreamt of enrichments.

- Yes, I can recommend the participation, because this year I caught on to myself, I had a very enriching and interesting experience and met with women from other countries (cultures) and even with my own group. Experiences like this one cannot take from reports, one has to go through them by oneself. In this project experience and doing was in the fore.

- The participation in this learning partnership is a good possibility to learn from personal encounters of other European cultures and get an idea of what possibilities women of different social backgrounds have to enlarge their knowledge and educational opportunities.

- It was a good opportunity to get to know women of other countries, their situation as a woman and mother and through this, gain a new view on myself and my situation. Furthermore I could acquire some new competences, like photography, internet, working on photos and teamwork.

- There is plenty to learn – to use and handle new media, languages, dare to see beyond the end of my own nose and back again! Involvement is compulsive here (otherwise there is no fun), reflection and ability to cope with conflicts are essential.

- I can recommend the participation to those women who are eager to engage themselves openly, and are willing to learn in individual courses as well as in the group. Knowledge of English is of a great advantage.

- I would recommend the participation because one gets very close with other participants as well as women of other countries, throughout the whole course. In a more intense way than in any theoretical course on other countries, it is the practical testing of what one learnt beforehand in theory.

- Meeting with women whom otherwise I never would have met. Wondering at differences, the unknown and the findings of common interests.
